Navigating the Real World: College to Corporate (21st August 2023)
IQAC and the Department organised a seminar titled "Navigating the Real World: College to Corporate" to the students of various streams on 21st August 2023 at the Seminar Hall. The seminar provided valuable insights into the transition from college life to the corporate world. The guest speaker, Mr. K. Mohamed Nazeeb, Assistant Professor of English, New College (Autonomous), Chennai, provided a glimpse into the next 25 years by discussing emerging fields that are expected to prosper.
He highlighted the importance of staying updated with technological advancements in various fields and the importance of adaptability, communication skills, and a proactive attitude in succeeding in the corporate world. He drew from his personal experiences to shed light on the challenges and opportunities that arise when transitioning from a college environment to a corporate setting. He suggested students to embracing Modernity utilizing digital tools, challenging work options, and staying updated with industry trends through online resources and professional networks. To further their knowledge, students were advised to read books that not only enhance their technical skills but also their soft skills.
To improve English language proficiency, he recommended websites that offer interactive lessons and activities to help students enhance their communication skills.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of continuous learning through certificate courses. Platforms like Coursera, edX, and MooC Learning offer a wide range of courses in various disciplines, enabling students to acquire new skills and certifications that can enhance their employability.
