Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology was established in the year 1997, the Department  offers undergraduate course that follows the semester cum choice based credit system. The UG degree in Microbiology aims in  create awareness about the in -depth research in biological sciences. It helps the graduates to enter the area such as Medical Microbiology, Genetics Biotechnology etc. Seminars and  activities are organized every year to revolutionize students into balanced holistic individuals who can combine academic expertise with creative energies to forge their way forward and get an edge over their peers.  The Department comprises of  dedicated faculties who are responsible for the all around development of the students.

Programme Outcome (PO):

 PO 1: Students will be able to acquire, articulate, retain and apply specialized language and knowledge relevant to microbiology.

PO 2: Students will acquire and demonstrate competency in laboratory safety, routine and specialized microbiological laboratory skills applicable to microbiological research or clinical methods, including accurately reporting observations and analysis.

PO 3: Students will demonstrate laboratory skills in Microbiology discipline through involvement in research or internship activities.

PO 4: Students will have scope for placements in Research, hospitals, academic institutions, industries and corporate.

Programme Specific Outcome (PSO):

 PSO 1: A general course emphasizing distribution, morphology and physiology of microorganisms in addition to skills in aseptic procedures, isolation and identification.

 PSO 2: This course includes sophomore level material covering immunology, virology, epidemiology and DNA technology.

 PSO 3:  Recommended for all allied health students.

Course Outcome (COs):

CO 1:  To achieve with high knowledge and research abilities to further develop various techniques and related works.

CO 2:  To have workers with creative power and capabilities in the field of Microbiology in order to apply advance techniques for maintaining the accuracy in diagnostic approach.

CO 3:  To prepare the students with basic knowledge in clinical, immunological, biochemical technique in order to continue their career with high degree.
