IQAC organized a 7 Day Faculty Development Program from 12 June 2024 to 18 June 2024 on “Empowering Educators: Strategies for Teaching, Student Guidance and Industry Collaboration” for all faculty members. The program focused on three topics namely, Innovative Strategies for Effective Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, Enhancing Student Support through Effective Counseling, Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Faculty Development through Academia – Industry Collaboration and an orientation on new LMS app, Clobus.
Guest speaker, Dr. Rita John's talk on "Innovative Strategies for Effective Teaching and Learning in Higher Education", began with recalling the existing strategies that are used to make us understand our focus and limitations of teaching. The sessions further explored the different gaps that exist in student’s education and attempted to find solutions to bridge it. The speaker further explained the learning outcome based education system and explained in details the UGC guidelines of requisites for a graduate through program outcome, program specific outcome and course outcomes. It rightly pointed out the need for course mapping to bring in innovation in our teaching for effective leaning.
The session on “Enhancing Student Support through Effective Counseling” by Dr. Thenmozhi, focused on understanding the psychology of the students and how to approach them. The major focus of the talk was to understand different changes and challenges of adolescence and how to bring out the hidden ability and intelligence of students. She segmented her talk in explaining challenges such as physical, emotional, friendship, self-identity, separate identity, education and career. The session further explored how to help adolescent children and provide guidelines to bring the best in them.
Mr. Bastian Babu’s session on “Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Faculty Development through Academia – Industry Collaboration”focused on understanding the challenges and need of the industry. The session on the importance to apprehend the changing technologies and how to equip them in learning. Bastian Babu’s following session had random exchange of various questions and responses between the speaker and the faculty participants pertaining to the change in the academic approach enriched with industry knowledge and AI which would help them to get placed easily.
The Faculty Development Program also incorporated many activities on all days, to ponder upon and to ease out faculties before the commencement of classes.
The FDP concluded with an orientation on the new LMS app, Clobus. Mr. Arunachalam, Technical Head. The orientation on the new LMS app provided an overview of its features, user interface and key functionalities. Faculties learned how to navigate the app, submit assignments and access resources.
