Seminar – Laboratory Techniques for Clinical & Molecular Research
📅Date: January 19, 2026
On January 19th 2026, the IQAC and Department of Microbiology jointly organized a seminar program titled “Laboratory Techniques for Clinical & Molecular Research” at the Seminar Hall, Annai Violet Arts and Science College. The resource person, Ms. D. Danapriyaa, Technician, ICMR Pondicherry delivered a comprehensive insight into the essential laboratory methods used in modern healthcare and research. The session focused on the importance of proper sample collection, handling, and storage and ensure accuracy in clinical diagnostics. Various clinical laboratory techniques such as microscopy, staining methods, culture techniques, and antibiotic sensitivity testing were explained in detail, highlighting their role in identifying pathogens and diagnosing diseases. The seminar also emphasized molecular research techniques including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and ELISA. Overall, the seminar effectively bridged theoretical knowledge with practical applications, demonstrating how clinical and molecular laboratory techniques contribute significantly to disease diagnosis, public health surveillance, and biomedical research.
