TN Government initiative – Polio Campaign

TN Government Polio Immunization Campaign

On 28th June 2026, the IQAC and NSS Unit of Annai Violet Arts and Science College actively participated in and supported the Tamil Nadu Government Polio Immunization Campaign. The programme was organized in coordination with the Government Health Department with the objective of ensuring that every eligible child received the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).

A team of dedicated NSS volunteers enthusiastically rendered their services throughout the campaign. The volunteers assisted health officials in organizing the vaccination booths, maintaining orderly queues, guiding parents and children to the designated counters, and facilitating the registration process. They also encouraged parents to participate actively in the campaign and created awareness about the importance of complete immunization. Their efforts emphasized that full vaccination was essential to protect children from the lifelong effects of poliomyelitis.

The programme was conducted successfully with the active cooperation of health officials, NSS volunteers, parents, and the local community. The event strengthened the students’ commitment to community service and reinforced the importance of collective efforts in achieving national public health goals. It also provided the volunteers with valuable experience in public health awareness, teamwork, and community engagement.
