Street Play on Drug Awareness – “Choose Life, Not Drugs”

On 24th June 2026, the IQAC and NSS Unit of Annai Violet Arts and Science College organized a Street Play on Drug Awareness on the theme “Choose Life, Not Drugs” at Surapet. The programme was conducted with the objective of educating the public about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of leading a healthy, responsible, and drug-free life.

The street play was performed by the NSS volunteers and students of the college. Through impactful dialogues, engaging performances, and realistic scenarios, the students highlighted the devastating consequences of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. The performance portrayed how addiction could lead to severe health complications, loss of educational and employment opportunities, family conflicts, and social isolation.

The NSS volunteers also displayed informative placards carrying anti-drug messages, awareness slogans, and preventive measures against substance abuse. These placards served as effective visual aids that reinforced the theme of the programme, “Choose Life, Not Drugs,” and helped the public understand the importance of preventing drug abuse.

During the performance, the students emphasized the importance of self-discipline, making positive life choices, maintaining healthy peer relationships, and seeking professional support when facing substance abuse-related challenges. Informative messages and awareness slogans were incorporated throughout the performance to engage the audience and strengthen the anti-drug message.

The programme received an encouraging response from the local community. Residents, youth, and passers-by actively witnessed the performance and appreciated the efforts of the students in creating awareness about this significant social issue. The event successfully enhanced public awareness regarding drug prevention and reinforced the role of youth in promoting a healthy and drug-free society.
