Industrial Visit to Pulicat Lake (Pazhaverkadu)
📅Date: March 7, 2026
| IIC, IQAC, and the Department of Biochemistry organized an Industrial Visit to Pulicat Lake (Pazhaverkadu) on 07 March 2026 for the I and II Year B.Sc. Biochemistry students.
The main objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to environmental studies, coastal ecosystems, and the diversity of shells and marine organisms found in the region. Pulicat Lake is one of the largest brackish water lagoons in India and serves as an important habitat for a variety of aquatic organisms and coastal biodiversity. The students were accompanied by Dr. R. Harini, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, along with faculty members Dr. K. Nadhiya and Dr. P. Kalaivani, who guided the students throughout the visit. During the field trip, students observed different types of shells, marine organisms, and coastal environmental features. The faculty members explained the ecological importance of the lagoon, biodiversity conservation, and the role of aquatic ecosystems in maintaining environmental balance. The visit provided students with an opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-time environmental observations. Students actively explored the coastal area, collected information about various shell structures and coastal biodiversity, and gained a better understanding of marine ecology and environmental science. Overall, the industrial visit was educational and enriching, enabling students to develop awareness about coastal ecosystems, biodiversity, and environmental conservation. The programme was successfully completed with active participation and enthusiasm from the students.Top of Form
