The 4P’s of Journalism
The classroom activity on the 4Ps of Journalism was conducted to give students a hands-on experience of how news is analyzed and reported. The students were divided into four groups, and each group was assigned one of the four Ps. Group 1 concentrated on Precision, carefully checking whether the facts in the sample news were accurate and free from errors. Group 2 evaluated Promptness, examining if the report was delivered on time and whether its relevance would remain in the future. Group 3 focused on Presentation, analyzing the clarity, tone, headline, and structure of the news to see if it was engaging for readers. Group 4 judged the Public Interest, questioning why the news mattered to society and how it served people’s needs. After discussions, each group presented their findings, offering suggestions to improve the report from their perspective. The activity created a newsroom-like environment where students not only learned through observation but also engaged in active discussion, collaboration, and critical analysis.
