Plogathon

On 23rd January 2026, the IQAC and National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, in collaboration with the Environmental Foundation of India (EFI), organized a Plogathon – Beach Clean-Up Activity as part of their commitment to environmental sustainability and community service. The primary focus of the event was to protect marine life by removing plastic waste and other harmful materials from the beach, thereby promoting a cleaner and healthier coastal ecosystem.
Prior to the commencement of the activity, volunteers were briefed by Mr. Varun, an EFI representative, on the importance of beach conservation, the adverse effects of plastic pollution on marine animals, and the role of individuals in preserving the environment. Safety guidelines and waste segregation methods were also explained to ensure effective and responsible participation.
Nearly 90 students actively took part in the plogathon, demonstrating enthusiasm and a strong sense of social responsibility. The participants were divided into groups and systematically covered designated areas of the beach, collecting plastic bottles, polythene bags, food wrappers, and other non-biodegradable waste. The collected waste was properly segregated and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner with the support of EFI.
