Startup Pitch Perfect: Showcase Your Idea – 11-07-2025

On 11th July 2025, the Department of Chemistry organized a seminar titled “Startup Pitch Perfect: Showcase Your Idea” at 10:30 a.m. The resource person for the program was Dr. J. Balakrishnan, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology, Mangadu, Chennai. The program commenced with a prayer song by the college choir, followed by a welcome address delivered by B. Evanjalin Asha, III B.Sc. Chemistry student. Mr. S. Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, presented a brief introduction of the guest speaker.

Dr. Balakrishnan delivered his talk on the topic “Start-up Job Opportunities for Chemistry Graduates,” focusing on the emerging roles and career paths available in start-up environments for students with a background in chemistry. The session highlighted how start-ups offer dynamic work cultures, hands-on experiences, interdisciplinary exposure, and career growth opportunities. He also discussed the skills chemistry students need to succeed in such environments, as well as potential start-up sectors and entry-level roles. The talk encouraged students to think entrepreneurially and adapt to the evolving job landscape driven by science and innovation.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. S. Gayathri, III B.Sc. Chemistry student, delivered the vote of thanks. The program ended successfully with the National Anthem.
