Seminar on Youth Wealth: Financial Literacy Drive

The Department of Commerce organized a seminar titled “Youth Wealth: Financial Literacy Drive” on 28th July 2025. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about essential financial knowledge and responsible money management.

The session began with an introduction to financial literacy, covering the basics of financial planning, budgeting, saving habits, and the importance of formal banking systems. The resource person, Mr. Dilip, then provided insights into the digital financial ecosystem, with a focus on UPI, BHIM, mobile wallets, net banking, and essential cybersecurity practices.

He also explained various credit and banking products, including savings accounts, recurring deposits, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and microcredit facilities. In addition, the session highlighted government schemes for youth and rural India, such as PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY, and Mudra loans.

Overall, the seminar was informative and effective in enhancing students’ understanding of financial literacy, digital banking, and government-supported financial opportunities.
