Seed Ball Plantation Drive

📅Date: September 8, 2025

The Department of Economics successfully organized a seed ball plantation drive at Korattur Lake today. The initiative, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and community engagement, saw active participation from students and faculty members. A total of 500 seed balls containing a variety of native tree species were prepared and dispersed along the lake’s banks. This effort is a part of the department’s commitment to social responsibility and contributing to local environmental conservation. The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of the collective effort required for ecological restoration. We extend our gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic support in making this a successful and impactful event. The expected outcomes include a significant increase in vegetation density around the lake over the next few months. We anticipate the successful germination of a high percentage of the seed balls, leading to the growth of various native trees and shrubs. This will help prevent soil erosion, improve water quality, and create new habitats for local fauna. The event received positive feedback from all participants. Students appreciated the opportunity to engage directly in a meaningful environmental activity and felt a sense of ownership over their contribution. The event was well-organized and educational, inspiring many to continue their involvement in similar initiatives in the future.
