“PG – Internship Presentation”

📅Date: August 23, 2025

On 23rd August 2025, the IQAC and the Department of Microbiology jointly organized a classroom activity titled “Internship Presentation” for the II M.Sc. Microbiology students. The session featured student presentations based on the successful completion of their internships in various laboratory techniques.

The topics covered included:

  • Food Microbiology: Role of microbes in food spoilage, food safety measures, industrially important fermented foods (yogurt, cheese, soy sauce), HACCP, and quality control in food industries.
  • Medical Microbiology: Importance of normal microbiota in humans, antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and beneficial applications of microbes in biotechnology.
  • Molecular Biology: PCR and its diagnostic applications, gene cloning and its industrial relevance, and CRISPR-Cas technology in gene editing.
  • Cell Culture Techniques: Types of cell cultures (primary vs. continuous), applications in vaccine production, and stem cell culture for regenerative medicine.

The presentations reflected the knowledge and hands-on experience gained by the students during their internships. They highlighted the practical exposure to diagnostic methods, biosafety practices, and modern laboratory equipment, thereby bridging theoretical concepts with real-time applications.

This activity not only provided a platform for students to share and consolidate their learning but also encouraged peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and academic discussions. The session emphasized the significance of clinical and laboratory training in enhancing both technical skills and conceptual understanding in the field of Microbiology.
