“Funding Your Startup: Opportunities and Challenges” : 17/7/2025

The IQAC, IIC and Department of Corporate Secretaryship jointly organized a seminar on “Funding Your Startup: Opportunities and Challenges” with Mrs. V. Suprajah, Credit Officer at Union Bank, as the resource person. The Objective of the seminar is to enable the students to understand the opportunities and challenges that a entrepreneur come across in the phase of funding. The session commenced with an overview of India’s startup ecosystem, followed by insights into the private funding landscape, current funding trends, emerging sunrise sectors, and the gap between investor expectations and market realities. Mrs. Supraja also emphasized legal and compliance challenges, strategic funding options, and key national initiatives supporting startups. A comparative analysis of major government schemes—PMEGP (Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme), UYEGP (Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme), and NEEDS (New Entrepreneur-cum-Enterprise Development Scheme)—was also presented. The seminar concluded with an engaging doubt-clearing session, effectively addressing participants’ queries. Students gained knowledge on various funding opportunities and schemes from national and state level for startups.
