Extension activity – Palm & Native Seed Sapling Ceremony

On August 2nd, 2025, the IQAC, Department of Microbiology, and NSS Unit jointly organized an extension activity titled Palm and Native Seed Sapling Ceremony at Senneerkuppam – Thangal Kulam, Avadi. Mrs. Latha, Founder of the Root Lamp Trust, addressed the gathering with an inspiring talk on environmental sustainability. She emphasized the role of youth in ecological conservation and highlighted the importance of protecting native species to ensure long-term environmental balance.

Students from I and III B.Sc. Microbiology actively participated in planting palm saplings and sowing native seeds to help restore and enhance biodiversity around the Thangal Kulam area. They learned about the ecological significance of palm trees and native plants in preventing soil erosion, improving groundwater levels, and supporting local biodiversity.
