Exploring Scopes & Opportunities of Microbiology

On July 18th, 2025, the IQAC and the Department of Microbiology jointly organized a departmental activity titled “Exploring Scopes & Opportunities in Microbiology” at the I B.Sc. Microbiology classroom (Room No. 59), Annai Violet Arts and Science College.

Dr. C. Initha Lebanon Ebency, Principal of Annai Violet Arts and Science College, shared her vast knowledge and experience in the field of microbiology. She explained its wide-ranging applications in healthcare, agriculture, the food industry, pharmaceuticals, environmental sciences, and research. She also emphasized the importance of microbiology in addressing global challenges such as emerging infectious diseases, food security, and environmental sustainability.

The session covered various career paths, including roles in diagnostic laboratories, research institutions, biotechnology companies, quality control units, and academia. Finally, she encouraged students to pursue higher studies, skill-based training, and interdisciplinary research.
