📅Date: July 18, 2025
On June 18th 2025, the IQAC and Department of Microbiology jointly organized the department activity titled “Exploring Bioinformatics: Bridging Biology and Technology“ to provide students with a conceptual and practical understanding of how biological data is analyzed and interpreted using computational tools. The activity highlighted the key topics such as:
- Introduction to Bioinformatics and its application in Microbiology
- Biological databases: NCBI, EMBL, DDBJ, PDB
- Sequence analysis: DNA, RNA, and Protein
- Basic tools: BLAST, Clustal Omega, SwissProt Finder
- Introduction to genome annotation and microbial genomics.
- Application of bioinformatics in microbial identification, evolutionary biology, and drug discovery
- Hands-on training with online tools and open-source software.
