Orientation Program
Annai Violet Arts and Science College entrusted a new journey of 780+ students into the new academic year. On Wednesday, 2nd of July 2025, an orientation program for first year was organised to orient students and parents with varied dreams embarking on a new and exciting journey of college life. For many it is a milestone as they are extending their frontiers in education. The event started with a welcome address by the IQAC coordinator and Vice- Principal Mrs. Japhia Solomon followed by a briefing on the academic realm and University regulations. The Principal Dr. Initha Lebonon Ebency presented the laurels and the legacy of the college elaborately emphasising various achievements and milestones of the college. The Principal further instructed the new students on the college rules and regulations.
The college Secretary, Mr. N. R. D Prem Kumar addressed the gathering starting his speech with the history of the college and extending on creating a discipline for life and the importance of education and stating committed to it. He further inspired students to have a role model to lead a life of value. Followed by it, the Joint Secretary, Mr. P. E. R. Premchand, reemphasized the importance of discipline while recalling the college rules and regulations.
Pastor Kamalraj was the Chief Guest of the event. He preached students on 5R’s to be implemented to reach great heights in life. They are ‘Responsibility’ to take accountability for ones Duties and actions that paves way for success, To stand on the ‘Right place’, ‘Right prayers’ to seek the guidance of The Almighty in paths we choose to endure and through ‘Right connections’ we land up in the ‘Right plan’ destined for a bright future. He ended by wishing and blessing the students for their future.
Parents were invited to share their thoughts about the college experience so far and three parent from the crowd volunteered to talk. A Grandfather started with his family history and spoke how education and social life impacted their family. He appreciated the hospitality and the disciplined culture of the college. As a grandparent he emphasized on refraining from bad habits and on parenting habits. A mother came up and talked about the desire and completeness of the child. She emphasized on the importance of understanding a child’s need and future responsibility of the child. She also talked about the importance of trusting God. A Mother who is a Teacher shared her likeness towards the college for the service it gives.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Uma Sarulatha, Head Department of Commerce and further guided students to their allocated classrooms. She ended with a famous quotation from Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam. The event came to an end with National anthem and refreshment was provided for students as well the parents.
