Mega Blood Donation Camp  (8th February 2023)

NSS, YRC, RRC and the Department of Biochemistry, in association with Lion's Blood Bank and Research Foundation, Egmore, Madras, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 8th and 9th February 2023 at the Seminar Hall. The camp was part of the 25 years of the College Celebration Mission Projects. Chev. Dr. N. R. Dhanapalan, Chairman and Dr. P. E. R. Premchand, Joint Secretary, officially opened the blood donation camp. Dr. C. Initha Lebanon Ebency, Principal and Mrs. Japhia Solomon, Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator, presided over the event. Mr. N. R. D. Prem Kumar, Secretary donated blood and inaugurated the camp officially. The management organised medical camp with proper medical facilities to help the needy. On the first day of the camp, faculty and students came forward to donate their blood voluntarily. A team consisting of a doctor and six lab technicians came from Lion’s Blood Bank and Research Foundation Egmore in Madras. Refreshments were provided to the donors and team members of the Lions Blood Bank.

On the second day, Mr. N. R. D. Prem Kumar, Ln. Mrs. P. S. Bhakkiyalakshmi and Lions club members attended the blood donation camp along with students and local community people. The Annai Violet Group of Institutions Sister Concern staff came forward to donate blood. The number of donors registered on Day 2 was 73 and 60 units of blood was collected. The blood bank team, comprised of 1 doctor and 7 technicians, conducted preliminary check-ups on the donors to ensure their eligibility to donate blood. The process of blood donation was carried out in a sterile environment and all necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the donors.

On the whole, 153 units of blood was collected. The college administration and the student council extended their full support for the successful conduct of the camp. The camp was a huge success and received an overwhelming response from the students and staff.
