NSS Units of Annai Violet Arts &Science College observed World Cancer Day on 4th February,2020 in association with India Turns Pink Foundation an NGO, dedicated for Breast cancer awareness and advocates early detection of breast cancer. The day started with 5K Marathon on the theme “A Run For a Cause” at 6.30 am from College Campus and ended by 7.30 am in the college premises. Nearly 300 students came together to honor cancer survivors, raise awareness about reducing cancer risk and to bring hope to cancer patients; the run had two categories, 3 km for women and 5kg for Men. The Chief Guest were Mrs.Divya Nathan, Senior News Anchor & Associate Editor, Kalaignar Seithikal, Mr.P.A.Anand kumar, Founder President of India Turns Pink, Ms.G.Raunakh Secretary of India Turns Pink, Mr.M.Jagadeeswaran, Senior Field Executive Officer of India Turns Pink, Mrs. Sheela Anand, Director, Strategic Planning, Sankalp Beautiful World NGO, Mrs.Nandhini, Advocate. The winners of Marathon for men were Chris Enoch II Bsc-CS, V.Dinesh, I BCOM (G), and Ezhil Bharathy II BCOM (G) in respectively and A.Seetha III B.Com A/F, R. Gayathri IIIB.Com A/F ands. S.Gowri I BA English for women respectively. Students joined their hands and formed a symbol of awareness in the presence of Secretary Mr.N.R.D Premkumar, Joint Secretary Dr.P.E.R Premchand, Vice Principal Mrs. Japhia Solomon, NSS Program Officers ,Teachers and students. During the session, the Management members and NSS Program Officers of Annai Violet College were honored as Brand Ambassadors of India Turns Pink 2020.
