Objective of the event: The aim of the webinar is to allow an academic dialogue between the academicians and students to help them analyze the Approaches, Applications and Appreciation of Language and Literature.
Description of the event: The three day webinar shared an insight into the various approaches and application of Language and Literature. The opening webinar on “3 Practical Approaches to Understand English Literature” by Mrs. Dr. B. V. Saraswathy aired on 17th august 2020, focused on the three simple ways in which English literature should be approached by the learners. Starting from the evolution of English language, its spelling and pronunciation starting from Anglo-Saxon to present day status as a global language, through various examples like medieval English, Shakespeare plays and the influence of French language. The second webinar (19th august 2020) titled “ Linguistics and its Nexus” by Ms. V. K.Smitha focused on the development, importance and purpose of Linguistics and language, explained through three important parts of language such as grammar, phonology, and semantics. The third and the final virtual webinar went live on 21st August 2020. The title of the webinar was “ Literature Matters: Literary Appreciation and Interpretation” by the speaker Mrs. M. Priyadarshini. The speaker in this session explained how the readers interpret the work and give the artistic merits and demerits by explaining the “literariness”. The three day webinar enriched the participants and broadened their perspective and understanding of language and literature.
Outcome of the event: The webinars exposed the students to various interactive, innovative, and practical approaches to Literature and widened their perspective on English language and Literature. It enabled the students to listen to eminent scholars and provided a space for them to have discussions with academicians.
