The Reporter’s Club of the Department of English inaugurated the club enthusiastically for the academic year 2020-2021. The programme aimed to introduce the participants, about journalism, its ethics and the challenges faced by journalist and media outlets. And to introduce the reporter’s club to the students its objective, function, workflow and opportunities for students in the club.
Ms Rinita Angeline, Asst. Prof, Department of English, the Moderator, began the Inauguration of the Reporters Club with an introductory note about the college, English department and journalism, followed by the invocation to God. The welcome address was delivered by Mr Devarkonda Venkata Jaswanth (Student Coordinator) and the Annual Report was read by Ms Priyanka, Asst. Prof, Department of English. Ms Keerthana S Asst. Prof, Department of English welcomed the guest of the day and delivered a brief introduction about the chief guest Mr Vijay Srinivas.
The Guest Speaker, Mr Vijay Srinivas, began the session by giving the audience an insight into the workings and ethics of the media world and the challenges faced by the journalist during the pandemic. The speaker also introduced listeners to several pioneers in journalism and the importance of their works in shaping media outlets. Furthermore, he also talked about various online and offline content institutions or sources that provide authentic content for the masses on a variety of topics. After the inauguration, the listeners were encouraged to pose any queries related to the field of journalism. The inauguration was quite interesting in the questionnaire session. The speaker answered all the queries put forth by the viewers that were posted by them in the live chat. The session concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Menaha.V, the student member. The response and feedback from the viewers were positive they said it was a very informative and useful session. Students were eager to join the reporter’s club. It opened a new path for students to opt journalism as a career by instilling ideas and the workflow of the journalist.
