‘Gramiya Pongal Vizha’ was celebrated with fervor and festivity in the College campus on January 13th, 2020. The special event began with the preparation of pongal which was headed by our College Founder and Chairman Dr. N. R. Dhanapalan, Benefactress Mrs. Violet Dhanapalan, Joint Secretary Dr. P. E. R. Premchand, Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Kamala Balakrishnan, Vice Principal Mrs. Japhia Solomon, Heads of various departments and students. When the pot boiled and overflowed the brim the echoes of the words ‘pongalo pongal’ kept ringing in the college campus. The faculty members and students were dressed in traditional outfits; students participated in various competitions like Oyilattam, Karagattam, Silambam, Rangoli and Setting a Village Scene etc. The day became special through rendering our hands to help the street vendors who came all the way to sell their products in the campus. Different stalls were exhibited and the students made use of it in a positive note. A decorated bullock cart pulled by oxen carried the dignitaries, staff members and students throughout the college campus and the day came to an end with distribution of sweet pongal and sugarcane to all.
