Placement & Career Guidance Cell
Our active placement cell helps the students to get approached by renowned companies from in and around Chennai. The students are trained to develop their employability skills.
The placement cell keeps the student updated on the job opportunities available in the market. We invite people from corporate to guide & instruct our students in career opportunities.
The placement cell in Annai Violet College is in action since 2000.

Entrepreneurship Club
Entrepreneurship is a course of action to start a new business by designing, planning and finally launching. It is a major input in the economic development of our country especially in this era of globalization. Entrepreneurial Development club (ED) of Annai Violet Arts and Science college designs programme to help students in strengthening and fulfilling their entrepreneurial motive and acquiring skills and capabilities necessary for playing entrepreneurial role effectively. EDC shows the way to educate the potential youths to identify a suitable way of life through self employment
Aims and Objectives of the Entrepreneurial Development Club:
- To encourage first generation entrepreneurs from among the students who do not have any business background
- To develop and strengthen the entrepreneurial competency among the prospective student entrepreneurs
- To provide possible help and assistance in identification and formulation of viable projects
- To impart training in managerial skills and understanding the potential of student entrepreneurs
- To empower and train potential Women entrepreneurs
HISTORY:
The Entrepreneurial club was officially inaugurated by the Principal Dr.Kamala BalaKrishnan on 08/10/2014.The Presidential address was delivered by the Secretary Mr.N.R.D.Prem Kumar.Dignitaries were felicitated by Mrs.Uma Sarulatha-Head Department of Commerce.
- Training was given to students on making of earring using quelling paper by Mrs.Banupriya on 9th August 2014
- Students were trained to make jumkas by Mr.Ramkumar on 20th September 2014
- A workshop was conducted to give training on making of Jewel using Terra Quota on 4th October 2014
- Mrs.S.Kalaiselvi conducted a workshop on 17th October 2014 for “Making fancy pillows and Nylon thread ladies handbags and cell phone pouch”
- An awareness programme was conducted by the club on “Waste Management” by Mr.Daniel from Handicraft Trainig Centre New Delhi on 23rd February 2015
- A seminar was conducted under the Entrepreneurial Development club on 5th March 2015 to motivate the students to undertake Entrepreneurial career .Student also interacted had an opportunity interacted with successful Women Entrepreneurs in Export.Mrs.Kalaiselvi and Sahina Banu
- Bakery Product Making Classes was conducted by Small Scale industries on 9th May 2017
ACTIVITIES FROM JUNE TO OCTOBER 2017:
Entrepreneurship Development Cell organized a Seminar on “How to become a successful Entrepreneur?” to celebrate World Entrepreneurs day on 16/8/17 in our college campus. Our Principal Dr.Kamala Balakrishnan, Welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief guest, in the presence of Vice Principal Mrs.Japhia Solomon,EDC convenor Dr.Prema Kirubakaran, HOD-Dept. of Computer Science and various other HOD’s and Staff Members. Students were addressed by Mrs.Mahalakshmi Saravanan, Founder Women Entrepreneurs & Kidspreneur. She gave valuable tips to become a successful entrepreneur. Students displayed various products like Quilling earrings, Mats, Idli Podi,silk thread chain ,ear rings and handmade pictures. The seminar concluded with Vote of Thanks by EDC co-ordinator Ms.Porselvi, Asst.Professor,Dept. of Commerce.
Womens Cell
The college is having its women cell functioning in formal sense since the academic year 2014-15. The cell has been established in order to enhance the participation of women members of the institution in response to the recognition both in academic and administrative level. It aims to protect themselves from all kinds of discriminations and to assist them in overall development of their personality. The Women Cell of the college also organizes gender sensitizing programs, to create gender equality among students.The Cell ensures safe and secured college atmosphere to women students, redress all grievances of women students.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CELL
Women’s Cell was constituted to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and the dignity of the female students. The cell comprises of a Lady Tutor, counselors and student members. Grievances are registered in women cell register and necessary action is taken. No such incidents have been reported till date.
ACTIVITIES OF THE CELL
The Women’s Cell conducts various activities, theoretical tenets of gender are communicated during these sessions and gender-related issues that underpin much of everyday life are highlighted through different strategies such as role play, skits, collage, etc. Both the Genders are taught to respect each other.
INITIATIVES OF THE CELL:
The Women Cell organizes Awareness Programs like Female Literacy, Human Trafficking, Aids Awareness, Cancer Awareness, Self Defence etc.
FACILITIES PROVIDED:
A separate cubicle is provided for the functioning of the cell. Automatic Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines and Napkin Disposers are provided as one of the main initiatives by the women’s cell.
Sports & Health Club
The Department of Physical education has been established in 1997. The Management and the College provides the necessary infrastructure that helps the students not only to inculcate good habit of playing games but also to develop the sportsmanship. To sharpen up the skills in the respective games as well as to enhance the physical fitness of the students and faculty, the college has facility for outdoor games namely: Cricket, Volley Ball,Foot ball, Ball Badminton, kho-kho, Badminton,Kabaddi and Basket Ball. Women[ chess,carrom,Badminton,Kabaddi,Kho-Kho ,Throw Ball ,volley ball,.The college has Indoor game section in an area of nearly 600 Sq.m, with indoor games like Table Tennis, Caroms, and Chess etc.
Swami Vivekananda mentioned that playing sports is also a form of meditation. Sports require high level of concentration. It helps to keep fit and kindles a fire within to succeed. Annual intercollegiate/ Inter School Tournaments in various games and sports are being conducted for the students, Chev. Dr.N.R.Dhanapalan Intercollegiate Basket Ball Tournament is conducted every year to encourage the sports spirit among the college students and Chev. Dr.N.R.Dhanapalan Intercollegiate Athletic meet is being conducted every year. The Department will continuously show the same enthusiasm to encourage and groom the students with highly motivated sportsmanship.
Citizen Consumer Club
Citizen Consumer Club of our college is established for the purpose of spreading the awareness about consumer rights among all consumer segments and to help consumers get justice when affected. Citizen Consumer Club was inaugurated by Mr.K.Murugan, Advocate, and High Court on 13-07-2011 in the presence of Principal Dr.Kamalabalakrishnan and CCC Coordinator A.Shanthi, Staff members and Students.
Mission
- To spread awareness on consumer rights amongst all consumer segments to students.
- To emerge as the best citizen consumer club at State Level adjudged by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection through the State Government to Government of India
Objectives
- To enable students understand fundamental rights of citizen and make them realize and learn the fundamental duties of a good citizen.
- To inject knowledge and skills relating to consumer rights among our college students and to impart knowledge on product standards, product quality and about marketing.
- To make them aware of laws enacted for protection/welfare of consumers and enforcement authorities concerned.
- To build a base of enlightened citizen consumer as the foundation of future India.

Reporters Club
Reporter’s Club
The Reporter’s Club began its journey on 21st June 2017. This club actively performs their duty precisely in collecting information and publishing it to the students through their “The Monthly Chronicles”. The students are selected through an entry test and our selection committee with their profound knowledge selects efficient students for different posts.
Monthly Chronicle
Monthly chronicle acts as a mode of channel which updates the students with innovative news, interviews and the events happening inside the campus. The Monthly chronicle is headed by Ms Angeline Jebaselvi and J.I Timothy of II B.A English they make an consistent effort along with their skillful team for the release of the chronicle every month. The chronicle is released in the presence of students in the morning assembly and pinned in the notice board for the students’ notice.
NSS
NSS is an Indian government sponsored public service program conducted by the department of Youth Affairs and sports of the Government of India. It was introduced in the year 1969-70 making the centenary year celebration of the birth of Mahathma Gandhi. The scheme seeks to correct the phenomenon of divorce of education from society by exposing the students to the social realities. “Education through service” is the additional dimension, the NSS imparts to the education system.
Objectives:
- Understand the community in which they work.
- Understand themselves in relation to their community.
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve in problem solving process.
- Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.

Youth Red Cross
The Indian Red Cross is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of over 700 branches throughout the country, providing relief in times of disasters/emergencies and promotes health & care of the vulnerable people and communities. It is a leading member of the largest independent humanitarian organization in the world, the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement. The movement has three main components, the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), 187 National Societies and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The Mission of the Indian Red Cross is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented and thus contribute to creating more congenial climate for peace.
History:
The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is a voluntary humanitarian organization to protect human life and health based in India. It is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and so shares the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The society’s mission is providing relief in times of disasters/emergencies and promoting health & care of vulnerable people and communities. It has a network of over 700 branches throughout India.The Society uses the Red Cross as an emblem in common with other international Red Cross societies. Volunteering has been at the very heart of the Indian Red Cross Society since its inception in 1920, with the Society having Youth and Junior volunteering programmes. The Society is closely associated with the St John Ambulance in India.
RRC
“Awarness and prevention of AIDS programme” was conducted by the students of Arizona University on 22nd July, 2013 in the college campus. NSS (National Service Scheme) unit of Annai Violet Arts & Science College in collaboration with the students from Arizona University organized a student exchange programme “Awareness and Prevention of AIDS” on 21st July, 2013 in the college premises. Ms. Seema and Mr. Arul Raj Louis Educational Director from (IAPA) International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS along with 20 students from Arizona University coordinated the programme and highlighted the students on various facts on HIV AIDS.
Eco Club
Eco Club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. By motivating the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by undertaking plantation of trees. Motivate students to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste generation, source separation of waste and disposing the waste to the nearest storage point.
ACTION PLAN 2019-20
- Maintenance of herbal, domestic and medicinal gardens within the campus.
- Encouraging the students to prepare domestic manure.
- Organizing seminar/debates/lectures and popular talks on environmental issues.
- Organizing rallies/human chain at public places with a view to spread environmental awareness.
- Action based activities like tree plantation, cleanliness drives both inside and outside the campus.
- Grow kitchen garden and maintenance of vermicomposting pits.
- To visit fertilizers and vermicomposting preparation sites/centres.
- Collection of cow dung and goat manure from near by places to prepare mannure.
- To limit usage of plastic inside the campus.

Counselling Cell
Our mission at the counseling cell at Annai Violet Arts & Science college is to promote the mental health of all our students, to improve their quality of life and create a screen learning environment that facilitates their individual development.
Pastor Rev. Paul Dinakaran has agreed to be our college counselor. He has interacted with our college students and guided them with remedial measures to overcome their problems. Our staff will help to identify the students problems and recommend for counseling. Our counseling includes individual counseling and group counseling.
Our counseling helps our students to know themselves better their interest, abilities, aptitudes and opportunities. We also service students to focus on and understand more clearly the issue that concern them. This help to tackle their personnel, family and peer problems as well as managing academics more responsibly.
All sessions are confidential and information are not shared with any student. Students take an appointment with a counseling cell in charge.

Prayer Cell
What is a Prayer Cell?
A prayer cell is a purposeful gathering of students and staffs, focused to bring constant spiritual renewal and growth in their lives and to be a constant reminder of the reality of salvation through Jesus Christ in their neighbourhood.
What are the key activities of a Prayer Cell?
It’s a time of meditation and self-examination to become better person
It’s a time to unite in prayer for each other, for the neighbourhood, for the nation
It’s a time to prayerfully plan and identify ways and means to change ourselves.
Prayer Cell (Cell Hour of Holiness) is a weekly spiritual gathering for small prayer groups.
Fine Arts Club
Fine arts club engages in identifying and nurturing the talents of the students.The club conudcts various culutural programs and events like Talent shows, Onam, Christmas and Pongal celebrations which are eagerly looked forward by the students. Vio fest is the main culutral extravanza conducted each academic year.
The club also gives notifications of cultural programs conducted outside the college. Maximum participation and gaining confidence are the goals of the club.
Rovers and Rangers Club
Rovers and Rangers is Bharat Scout and Guide’s upper wing. It is a non-political educational movement for young people that are open to everybody, regardless of background, ethnicity, or creed. The Movement’s motto is “service to society.” In fulfilling their total physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual goals, they will be able to become more responsible and duty-bound members of society and communities.
The movement’s goal is to help young people reach their full physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens, and as members of local, national, and worldwide committees. Rover & Ranger is a worldwide recognized youth program that instills good manners and the ideas of a disciplined lifestyle.
The concept of Rovers and Rangers fulfilling their civic duty. Students learned about various opportunities and took part in public awareness initiatives and drives. They also attended various camps
Photography Club
Photography can capture someone’s heart and soul. Even the simplest photo has a story that tails along with it. It is an escape from the real world; a creation that narrows on one particular subject and carefully details their every move and emotion.
A well-clicked photograph is worth more than a thousand words. It describes a scene infinitely better than mere words can depict.
Video is now a requirement, not a recommendation Our brain process is a base form of visual information faster than text. video is a great way to tell a story and engage. We store either long-term memory and text the short-term memory and so on. Video allows us to tell the great stories of people. Great experiences starts with great stories. The amount of information contained in one single frame can take 3 pages to describe. So, Be unique, inspire, and connect.
The Comedy Club
“Comedy Clubs are sacred ground that’s where anything goes” – Tracy Morgan
The institution has started The Comedy Club as laughter is the best medicine. It is a form of relief in this hectic world. Humour goes beyond being an amusing pass-time as it integrates itself into your everyday existence. Our club objective is to explore into the history and art forms of comedy. Our aim is to educate and inform the students who have an interest in expressing themselves with comedic skits, plays, Improve and stand up. Comedy is everywhere. The main objective of having a Comedy Club is to create and nurture new performers whilst continuing with the comedians who have been the heart and soul of comedy.
Media club
The Media Club empowers students to create, explore, and connect through hands-on projects and professional development in various media fields.
NCC Training Camp - VIT College
The CATSC cum GP TSC selection camp at VIT College, Vellore, was a resounding success, providing comprehensive training to NCC cadets in key areas. Cadets enhanced their proficiency in firing techniques, mastering firearm safety, accuracy, and handling. Workshops on health and hygiene ensured preparedness for the physical demands of future activities, while rigorous obstacle courses improved their endurance, agility, and teamwork. Precision drills and ceremonial training for the Guard of Honor honed their presentation skills for formal events. The camp significantly boosted the cadets’ confidence and skills, equipping them with updated techniques and knowledge for future NCC engagements, and laying a strong foundation for their development.
The camp significantly enhanced the cadets’ capabilities in each of the focus areas. Participants reported increased confidence and improved skills, which are expected to be beneficial for their future engagements. The training also provided the cadets with updated techniques and knowledge, preparing them effectively for the next upcoming camp and related activities. The CATSC cum GP TSC selection camp was a highly successful event that contributed to the professional and personal development of the NCC cadets. The focused training in firing, health and hygiene, obstacle courses, and the Guard of Honor has equipped the cadets with essential skills and knowledge. This preparatory camp has set a strong foundation for their future performance and participation in NCC activities.
