IQAC organised a Professional Development Program on the topic Mastering Blooms Taxonomy “Transforming Teaching for Effective Learning” on 7th December 2024 at 9.30 am. Dr. V Elango, Professor & Head Department of Robotics and Automation from Easwari Engineering College was the resource person. Dr T Deepa Augustine, Assistant Professor and Head Department of B.Com CS moderated the event, Principal Dr C Initha Lebanon Ebency welcomed the gathering. The guest was honored by Principal & Vice Principal with a momento. Dr S Uma Sarulatha, Associate Professor & Head Department of Commerce introduced the guest. Dr V Elangovan briefed that Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Bloom’s Taxonomy are two key frameworks that aid in achieving these educational goals. OBE is centered on clearly defining learning outcomes that students are expected to know, understand, and be able to meet by the end of an educational program, further he emphasized on the key principles like Clear Learning Outcomes, Student-Centered Learning, Assessment for Learning, Flexibility in Learning Pathways, Standards-Based. The guest speaker explained on Bloom’s Taxonomy that provides a structured approach to categorizing educational objectives. He mentioned the 3 domains of blooms taxonomy – Cognitive Domain (Knowledge-Based), Affective Domain (Emotion-Based), Psychomotor Domain (Action-Based). The original taxonomy emphasized six levels in the cognitive domain, arranged in a hierarchical structure from lower-order thinking skills (LOTS) to higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). The six levels were: Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis, Evaluation. The session concluded with a note of gratitude by IQAC Coordinator and Vice Principal Mrs Japhia Solomon.
